Contact: EDC’s Goldenberg Named to Math Educators Hall of Fame Newton, MA: EDC’s Dr. Paul Goldenberg has been selected for the Massachusetts Hall of Fame for Mathematics Educators by the Association of Teachers of Mathematics in Massachusetts. His selection was announced along with two other math educators. Goldenberg will be officially inducted at ceremonies later this month. The Massachusetts association, an affiliate of the national body, is devoted to improving math education for students in the Commonwealth. The Hall of Fame was created in 2000 to honor outstanding colleagues working and teaching throughout the state. Each year fellow teachers nominate an educator with a minimum of 20 years in mathematics education, who has a distinguished record of teaching and has made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of math education. Dr. Goldenberg’s career includes 40 years of elementary, secondary, and post-secondary teaching, mathematics teacher education, and research, focused heavily on developing students’ and teachers’ mathematical curiosity along with their ideas, skills, and understanding. He is widely published and has conducted workshops and seminars on any number of mathematics education topics. Goldenberg has said he likes to focus on the beautiful surprises that mathematics holds, and the creative element of problem-posing in deep mathematics. He holds the rank of Distinguished Scholar at EDC, and has helped develop a variety of curricula and materials, including most recently, Think Math!, a K–5 mathematics program.
