EDC Seeks Applicants for $26 Million Philippines Education Project
Organizations encouraged to apply by June 1, 2007
MANILA, PHILIPPINES – Education Development Center, Inc. (EDC), with the support of USAID Philippines, is requesting applications from legally registered organizations interested in contributing to the implementation of the second phase of the Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills (EQuALLS 2) project. EDC will award 4-7 grants for a total amount not to exceed $26 million to work with local education stakeholders at the barangay and municipal levels.
EQuALLS 2 works in areas of Mindanao most affected by conflict and poverty, and seeks to increase access to relevant education and livelihood skills development opportunities for both in and out of school children and youth.
The broad intent of EQuALLS 2 is to: (a) work with local education stakeholders to identify their priorities for education and livelihood programming for both in and out of school children and youth; (b) develop education and livelihood interventions that respond to local stakeholder priorities; (c) develop national, regional and local capacity to ensure continued application and improvement of these interventions; and, (d) develop dynamic alliances with public and private partners to support long-term investment in education in Mindanao.

Applications should be submitted electronically to EDC to the attention of Alma Mapili (amapili@edc.org), following instructions in the RFA no later than 5:00 pm Manila time on June 1, 2007.
