WASHINGTON, DC – EDC's collaboration with the AT&T Foundation is one of four partnerships
to receive the 2003 ET3 TEC Champion Partnership Awards from the Congressional
Black Caucus' Education Braintrust. Awardees were honored at Education
Braintrust meetings held on September 26 during the 33rd Annual Congressional
Black Caucus Legislative Conference in Washington, DC.
EDC was recognized for its EdTech
Leaders Online Program, funded by the AT&T Foundation, which works
with school districts and other educational organizations around the country
to develop local capacity to provide online professional development for
teachers and online courses for students.
"The EDC Center for Online Professional Education team is honored
to receive this award in partnership with the AT&T Foundation, which
has been a generous supporter of our work for many years,” said
EDC Vice President Glenn Kleiman “However, the real champions are
the many dedicated and talented teachers and administrators we work with
from urban and rural schools throughout the country.” Kleiman received
the award from Congressman Major R. Owens, Chairman of the Congressional
Black Caucus’ Education Braintrust.
Inaugurated in 1999, the TEC Awards are given annually to honor innovative

to collaborate in new and visionary ways to empower students and communities
alike. Each of them has developed unique strategies that inspire our youth
to achieve academically while learning to imagine, inquire and invent
– requisite skills in this competitive world of technology.
During the Education Braintrust meetings, the Partnerships were featured
at the 2003 Issue Forum entitled Technology for Tutorial and Program Enhancement.
The Forum and Exhibit Fair were held at the Washington Convention Center
